We asked 360 startups and small businesses about their next technology investment, and almost half (47%) will be investing in sales and marketing while one-quarter (25%) are focusing on website and e-commerce. When you consider that website and e-commerce are effectively online implementations of sales and marketing, that puts 72% of small biz technology investment into the sales and marketing category.
As for the remaining investments, 12% are focusing on back-office operations, 8% on customer service, and 8% on other functions.
