Introduction

The Business Ethernet performance report displays the average monthly performance metrics of your network, including:

The report filtering choices differ depending on whether you have Ethernet Private Line/Ethernet Virtual Private Line service or Network Services. Please follow the first steps to sign in to your account, and then continue to either the Ethernet Private Line/Ethernet Virtual Private Line service or Network Services instructions.

  • Jitter: A variation in packet transit delay caused by queuing, contention and serialization effects on the path through the network. Jitter experienced between two sites is expressed as an average, a maximum and a minimum.

  • Latency: The amount of time it takes for a packet of data to get from one designated point to another. Latency (measured in milliseconds or ms) is expressed as an average, a maximum and a minimum.

  • Packet Loss: Occurs when one or more packets of data travelling across a computer network fail to reach their destination. Percentage of packets lost between the two sites is expressed as an average, a maximum and a minimum

Access Business Ethernet performance reports

  1. Step 1:

    Sign in to My Account and select Ethernet from the Manage Services menu.

  2. Step 2:

    Expand the Reports section on the left-hand side and select Performance.

Ethernet Private Line/Ethernet Virtual Private Line Reports

  1. Step 1:

    The report offers three categories for filtering. Select an option for each filter type and select Render Report.

  2. Step 2:

    Select Jitter, Latency or Packet Loss to view that specific metric. For each metric, choose to view a single month or multiple months (3, 6 or 12) of data at one time.

    Note: Report data is updated once a month. Up to 12 months of data can be viewed from the last 24 months. Performance data is available beginning October 2015. Reports are only available for On-net fiber-based sites.

  3. Jitter Reports

    View the Jitter report in single-month view to see a snapshot of the chosen month across specific EVCs or multi-month view to see a snapshot of a single EVC at a time across multiple months.

    The Date Range dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select 1 Month

    • Multi-Month view: Select 3 Months, 6 Months or 12 Months

    The End Month dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select one month (must be at least one month prior to the current month).

    • Multi-Month view: Select the last month to display on the report (must be at least one month prior to the current month)

    Select Update Chart to refresh the chart.

    Note: Select each UNI ID to view that site's data for given month range.

  4. Latency Reports

    View the Latency report in single-month view to see a snapshot of the chosen month across specific EVCs or multi-month view to see a snapshot of a single EVC at a time across multiple months.

    The Date Range dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select 1 Month

    • Multi-Month view: Select 3 Months, 6 Months or 12 Months

    The End Month dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select one month (must be at least one month prior to the current month).

    • Multi-Month view: Select the last month to display on the report (must be at least one month prior to the current month)

    Select Update Chart to refresh the chart.

    Note: Select each UNI ID to view that site's data for given month range.

  5. Packet Loss Reports

    View the Packet Loss report in single-month view to see a snapshot of the chosen month across specific EVCs or multi-month view to see a snapshot of a single EVC at a time across multiple months.

    The Date Range dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select 1 Month

    • Multi-Month view: Select 3 Months, 6 Months or 12 Months

    The End Month dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select one month (must be at least one month prior to the current month).

    • Multi-Month view: Select the last month to display on the report (must be at least one month prior to the current month)

    Select Update Chart to refresh the chart.

Network Services Report

  1. Step 1:

    The report offers four categories for filtering. Select an option for each filter type and select Render Report.

    • Service Type (Network services)

    • Ethernet Virtual Circuits (EVC - association of two or more UNIs)

    • State (Site Location)

    • Sites (UNI IDs)

  2. Step 2:

    Select Jitter, Latency or Packet Loss to view that specific metric. For each metric, choose to view a single month or multiple months (3, 6 or 12) of data at one time.

    Note: Report data is updated once a month. Up to 12 months of data can be viewed from the last 24 months. Performance data is available beginning October 2015. Reports are only available for On-net fiber-based sites.
     

  3. Jitter Reports

    View the Jitter report in single-month view to see a snapshot of the Jitter experienced between the two sites in a chosen month or multi-month view to see a snapshot of the Jitter experienced between the two sites in a month range.

    The Date Range dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select 1 Month

    • Multi-Month view: Select 3 Months, 6 Months or 12 Months

    The End Month dropdown:

    • Single-Month view: Select one month (must be at least one month prior to the current month).

    • Multi-Month view: Select the last month to display on the report (must be at least one month prior to the current month)

    Select Update Chart to refresh the chart. Reverse Site changes the direction of data flow (from Site 1:2 to Site 2:1).

    Note: You cannot connect the UNI-Address pair with the same UNI-Address Combination.

  4. Latency Reports
