Currently being trialed in the Portland, Little Rock, and Pittsburgh markets

Updated 7/1/2016 12:14:37 PM by Comcast Expert

A Power Save feature is now available and has been enabled on your digital converter to enhance your Comcast Business TV experience. The new feature will automatically turn off your TV box after a period of inactivity (configurable to be 4, 6, or 8 hours). Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, electing to put a device in Power Save mode will contribute to the overall energy saving initiative. It is also designed to save you money on your energy bills and help reduce the energy demand for inactive devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I adjust the timing of the Power Save feature?
Yes. The Power Save default setting turns off your TV box after 4 hours of inactivity, but you can extend the timer to 6 or 8 hours of inactivity before the TV box is turned off automatically. Alternatively, you can disable the feature completely if desired. To change the timer, press the MENU button on your remote twice and select the SETUP option. On the SETTINGS screen you can disable the feature by turning the POWER SAVE to OFF or extend the timer to 6 or 8 hours under the PERIOD OF INACTIVITY section.
What kind of power variance will I see when using Power Save?

The variance is about 2 watts on the DCX 3400 models when these boxes are in Power Save mode (30 watts ON vs. 28 watts in Power Save mode). For the DCX 3501, the variance is more significant at 7.6 watts (23.8 ON vs. 6.2 in Power Save mode).
