Introduction

Learn how to resolve common errors with your TV box and the on-screen programming guide.

Select the error or the error code from the list below and follow the suggested troubleshooting steps to resolve your issue. If after trying the suggested remedy the error still exists, contact Customer Support at 1-800-391-3000.

Cisco-Scientific Atlanta TV Box Error Codes / Diagnostics Error Code Description / Resolution
Four dashes (- - - -)

Resolution:

The cable service may be disconnected. Contact customer support at 1-800-391-3000 for assistance.

Resolution:

Powercycle/reboot the TV box by unplugging the power cord, plugging it back in, and then powering on the device after the time displays on the LCD (if the box has an LCD display); it may take 15-30 seconds for the box to come up, digital services may take longer to populate than standard channels, and the guide may take 15-45 minutes to repopulate.

Resolution:

Wait approximately 60 seconds for the wave to disappear and the TV box to display the next message in the normal reboot process.

0576

Resolution:

Reboot the TV box by turning it off, unplugging the power cord, plugging it back in and powering it on after the time displays on the LCD screen. The TV box should restart the download. Wait for the time or channel to display on the front panel of the TV box.

0867

Resolution:

The TV box failed to download an update. Reboot the TV box by powering it off, unplugging the power cord, plugging it back in and powering it on after the time displays on the LCD screen. The TV box should restart the download. Wait for the time or channel number to display.

8888

Resolution:

All TV boxes display 8888 at power on. If the front panel displays 8888 for more than 3 seconds, reboot the TV box by powering it off, unplugging the power cord, plugging it back in and powering it up after the time displays on the LCD screen.

AuLd

Resolution:

Wait approximately 5-15 minutes. The TV box could be downloading software. If this doesn't solve the issue, power off the TV box, unplug the power cord, plug it back in and power on the box after the time displays on the LCD screen. Wait 5-10 minutes.

bb80

Resolution:

The bb80 message indicates normal operation. No action is required.

Blank

Resolution:

Wait 5 minutes for the TV box to reboot. The TV box could be downloading software. If the message isn't cleared, reboot the TV box (power it off, unplug the power cord, plug it back in and reapply power after the time displays on the LCD screen).

BR.xx

Resolution:

Turn off the TV box and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet or rear panel. Plug the device back in and turn it on after the time displays on the LCD screen.

CLR

Resolution:

The TV box is clearing memory for the new software. This is normal behavior. Do not reboot the TV box or remove power. If the CLR message does not disappear within a few minutes, wait a few more minutes. It could take 15-30 minutes if the software download was interrupted. Important: If you interrupt the TV box in its download process, the TV box may lock up and need to be replaced.
