Set up Sequential Ring on your Business Voice or VoiceEdge Select line

Sequential Ring allows you to configure a list of 5 phone numbers that will be alerted sequentially when you receive an incoming call. If you would like to set up a list of numbers to ring at the same time as your primary number, please read Set up Simultaneous Ring on your Business Voice line.

Before you activate sequential ring, you can configure time and holiday schedules so the feature is only enabled when you need it.

Note: Access to this feature may require the purchase of a Business Voice Mobility or VoiceEdge Select line. For more information, contact a Business sales representative at 1-800-391-3000. Mobility lines are not available in all areas.

Access Sequential Ring settings

  1. Sign in to My Account and select Phone from the Services dropdown.

  2. Select Advanced from the Features menu.

Manage Sequential Ring settings

  1. In the Sequential Ring section, select the Pencil icon.

  2. Enter up to 5 phone numbers that you would like to ring in sequence. For each number, select how many times that number should ring (up to 21) before the call proceeds to the next phone number. Select Answer Confirmation Required for each number if you would like the answerer of a Sequential Ring device to first verify they want to receive the call before answering.

    In the Sequential Ring Rules section, select Add new rule if you are not immediately directed to the rule setup page.

  3. Enter or select the following information:

    Rule name: Enter a rule description. For example, 'Nights and Weekends' or 'Calls from IT Department.'

    Select use Sequential ring to activate the rule upon saving. Select Do not use sequential ring to deactivate Sequential Ring during the specified time of day.

    Time Schedule: Choose the time of day you would like Sequential Ring to be active. Every Day All Day is selected by default. You can also customize your own time schedule.

    Holiday Schedule: If you would like to apply rules on specific days, you can customize a holiday schedule.

    Calls From: Choose All phone numbers if you want all calls to be forwarded or choose Selected phone numbers and enter the phone numbers of callers whose calls you want to activate Sequential Ring. If you choose Selected phone numbers, you also have the option to allow calls from private or unavailable numbers.

    Select Save when you are finished. Your settings should take effect immediately.
