Introduction

Identify and troubleshoot issues and error codes you may encounter while using the Panasonic A406 extender device.

Troubleshoot the extender device

Confirm the device is plugged into a working outlet, receiving power and ready for use.

Ensure that the power cable is securely connected to both the extender and the outlet. Verify that the device is receiving power by checking the Status light on the front of the device.

Review the extender's coverage area.

The extender coverage area for synchronization between the base unit, or another extender device's Maximum Distance: 98 ft. to 131 ft.

The extender coverage area for synchronization with a cordless handset or desk phone's Maximum Distance: 131 ft. to 164ft.

The extender does not work.

The base unit is out of range.

Registration may have been canceled

  • Move the extender closer to the base unit.
  • Follow the procedures below to deregister, then re-register the extender unit.
  • Deregister:
    1. Unplug the power cord, then press and hold the Program button.
    2. While pressing and holding the Program button, re-connect the power cord.
    3. Remain holding the Program button for 10 seconds until the Status indicator stops flashing and RSSI/ID indicator turns red. Then release the Program button.
    4. The Status indicator and the RSSI/ID indicator turn amber for about 2 seconds and the Status indicator flashed red again.
      • If the Status indicator flashes green after releasing the Program button, deregistration failed. Deregister the extender again.
  • Re-register:
    • Unplug the power cord, then start at step 2 of "Installation/Registration of the Extender."

The extender cannot be registered.

The base unit is out of range, or not powered on.

 

  • Verify that the base unit is properly connected and powered on.
  • Move the extender closer to the base unit.

When moving between extender zones, calls suddenly stop (With more than one extender)

The new zone is '93busy'94, so handover cannot occur.

 

  • Return to the original zone and continue your call.

The extender cannot be registered in Manual Registration mode. (The process keeps repeating automatically.)

The extender is not turned on.

The selected ID does not match the ID of the destination extender device.

 

  • Confirm that the destination extender is powered on.
  • Follow the procedure below to change the selected ID.
    1. Check the ID of the destination extender in ID confirmation mode.
    2. Enter Manual Registration mode by pressing and holding down the Program button of the extender for 5 seconds while the extender's status indicator is flashing red, and releasing it.
    3. Select the ID that matches the destination extender in manual registration again.

The extender's Status indicator and RSSI/ID indicator flash green and red alternately.

The ID of the extender is the same as the ID of another extender that is registered to the same base unit.

 

Follow the procedure below to change the ID of the extender.
  1. Press the Program button to cancel the alarm indication of the extender. The extender will enter ID Confirmation mode.
  2. Check the IDs of the extender and the other extender that is registered to the same base unit, in ID Confirmation mode.
  3. Enter ID Modification mode by pressing and holding down the Program button of the extender for 5 seconds and releasing it.
  4. Change the ID of the extender so as not to overlap with the ID of the other extender in ID Modification mode.
