What exactly is a SIM?
SIM stands for “subscriber identity module.” It stores information, like your contacts, user profile, phone number, network authorization, and more, while letting you connect with the mobile network.
Traditionally, it’s been a small card physically inserted into a slot on your device. Now, digital SIM cards are also embedded (that’s the “e” in eSIM) in many devices — no card needed.
What’s the advantage of an eSIM?
Immediate activation. You don’t need to wait for your mobile provider to ship you a physical SIM card when you get new service.
2 numbers, 1 device. You can have a business and a personal number on the same phone.
Simplicity. With eSIM, there’s no card for you to find, remove, or insert.
Flexibility. When travelling overseas, eSIM makes it simple to temporarily switch to a local network.
