Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Selects Comcast Business Ethernet and Business Trunks to Transform its Communications

High-Capacity Bandwidth and Scalable Voice Service Optimize Network to Support Inter-Office Collaboration and Online Professional Development Resources for Members


Exton, PA – September 6, 2012 – Comcast Corporation, one of the nation's leading providers of information and communications products and services, today announced that the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is using Comcast Business Ethernet and Business Trunks to deliver advanced data and voice capabilities across multiple offices. This service will be used to support a variety of online technology training, certifications, event information, and related professional development resources for its more than 14,000 industry members.

Founded in 1969, SCTE is a nonprofit membership organization for the cable telecommunications industry that offers a variety of services ranging from technical leadership training to industry standards certification. Headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, SCTE is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and works in cooperation with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).

The organization chose to upgrade to an Ethernet Dedicated Internet (EDI) line from Comcast. This new service provides significantly more bandwidth for the company’s internal traffic as well as for its virtual private network (VPN), which connects the organization’s satellite offices in Atlanta and Denver as well as all staff working remotely.

SCTE has also taken advantage of a number of other benefits that Comcast’s Ethernet service provides, including:

SCTE also recently switched its voice services from a T1 line to Comcast’s Business Trunks to maximize its existing investment and provide additional value. With this new service, SCTE can scale its voice service in increments as needed and receive business voice continuity from Comcast’s advanced IP network.
