PHILADELPHIA – FEBRUARY 13, 2017
– Comcast Business
today announced it is providing high performance Ethernet services to Philadelphia’s start-up and tech communities at The Microsoft Reactor, a hub for entrepreneurs and technologists that is located on the ground floor of the University City Science Center’s corporate offices at uCity Square. The full-service Comcast Business Ethernet
line provides a scalable enterprise-grade service to support various programs, events and start-up businesses.
Designed to strengthen Microsoft’s connection to Philadelphia, The Microsoft Reactor is a community hub providing support and resources to students, entrepreneurs and developers to foster innovation, collaboration and economic development. Entrepreneurs and the local business community will use the center for networking events and educational opportunities, and will benefit from access to Microsoft technologies, allowing for fast and seamless web research and communication.
“The Microsoft Reactor is helping the Science Center achieve its goal of convening local business leaders, students and entrepreneurs to drive innovation in the greater Philadelphia region,” said Stephen S. Tang, Ph.D., MBA, president and CEO of the Science Center. “Fast, reliable Ethernet and Wi-Fi services are imperative for this community and our start-up businesses to explore ideas, share files and present during events. Comcast Business provides that robust network service foundation on which to grow these enterprises.”
Located at 3711 Market Street, The Microsoft Reactor is a collaboration of the Science Center, local venture capital firm SeventySix Capital and Wexford Science + Technology, a real estate firm that partners with universities, academic medical centers and research companies to develop innovation communities. The 100 Megabit per second (Mbps) Ethernet Dedicated Internet
service from Comcast Business will support the Reactor’s internal and external network and Wi-Fi offering. Students and technology enthusiasts can easily share large files with other innovation hubs, investors and colleagues as well as receive demonstrations on the latest Microsoft technologies.
“Comcast Business works closely with the University City Science Center to provide various Ethernet solutions across their campus and at uCity Square. Additionally, our strong commitment to supporting the Philadelphia innovation community makes us the ideal network services provider for The Microsoft Reactor,” said David Dombroski, regional vice president, Comcast Business Freedom. “By providing a flexible, secure connection to The Microsoft Reactor Center, we are assisting in advancing Philadelphia as a major innovation hub.”
