Patrick King

Founder and CEO Imagine

Patrick King began his unconventional design career at the age of nine at a family reunion. Being introduced to the concept of a logo as a way to stay occupied and out of trouble, Patrick designed what is still used as the trademark for his family’s real estate agency. This talent quickly became a profitable commodity for Patrick who, in a family of entrepreneurs, had a long list of projects to his credit before attending high school.

Patrick worked for many years as a freelance consultant and designer, working on many projects for local government agencies and small businesses in Southeastern Virginia before moving to Washington, DC.

In July 2004, Patrick King moved to the capital area to establish himself as a creative force in the metropolitan business scene. By the end of that year, Patrick had formed Imagine, a full-service marketing and design firm. Imagine’s approach to both strategy and creative is known for being clean, simple and direct, having used this methodology for successful campaigns with Rolls Royce, Nestle, Rubbermaid, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Jim Beam Brands Worldwide. Patrick's firm now focuses on building memorable, effective brands for professional service firms.

Patrick’s insight and advice on marketing, design and business have been published in a number of books, magazines, webcasts and industry websites; including Inc. Magazine, SmartCEO,, Hightail, EPN, YFS Magazine, RainToday, Construction Marketing Ideas, and repeat profiles on Inc.’s Productivity@Work column. He serves on the Board of Directors for Historic Manassas and CASA, and on the judging panels for the International Association of Visual Arts, the American Business Awards, and the International Business Awards, while making sure to set time aside for his family and other interests (like beer brewing, songwriting, and finally learning how to really cook).
