Internet Service

What is wideband Internet?
The term "wideband" refers to Internet that delivers speeds 50Mbps and higher. Currently, Comcast Business Class offers 50Mbps, 100Mbps, and 150Mbps wideband solutions to businesses – see Plans & Pricing.

Can I get Internet faster than 150Mbps?*    
Yes. Our Ethernet Services provide businesses with Internet speeds of 200Mbps or faster. If you need faster speeds visit our Ethernet page.

What is the IPv4 to IPv6 transition and how will it affect my Internet service?    
Comcast is making preparations to help ensure all of its networks, products, and systems are compatible and enabled for the migration to IPv6, an Internet Protocol which will allow for nearly unlimited IP addresses. Additionally, Comcast is making sure that customers are able to begin the transition to IPv6.

What Web hosting packages are available and how do I order?

What are the costs for additional storage for email, websites, etc.?
If you need additional storage for your website, it may be time to upgrade from your Starter Package. We offer a wide range of Web hosting options to adequately satisfy your websites growing need for storage.

Am I able to back up my website?   
Yes. Comcast Business customers can easily back up their website. We offer a number of Web hosting packages with storage up to 500 GB, for backing up your website – Read more about Web hosting options.

What is the difference between Static IP and a Dynamic IP?   
Generally, a Static IP address will never change. In contrast, a Dynamic IP has the potential to change at any given interval.

When would I want to use Static IP?
A Static IP will allow you to assign your own server or firewall with a public static-routable IP. For example, you could run an e-mail, Web, or VPN server. Learn more about Static IP.

What is my domain pointer?
A domain pointer is a Web hosting feature that allows you to automatically send Web visitors from one or more of your domain names to your primary website. Domain pointers also give you the ability to point a domain to a subdirectory acting as a stand-alone website.

Am I able to view Web traffic reports for my domain?
Yes. Comcast Business Reporting Tools enable you to see how much traffic your website generates.

What is the Website Building Tool?
It is a template-driven, online website development tool that allows you to create a rich, customized website without needing to have any knowledge of HTML code.

 

Internet Security

What is included with Norton™ Internet Security Online?
Advanced Internet and antivirus protection, ranked #1 in overall protection and remediation. Norton Business Suite provides protection for up to 3 computers against viruses, spam, and pop-ups. Available for PC users. Additional protection can be purchased in packages of 3 licenses for just $6.95 per month.

What firewall protection is offered?
The Comcast IP Gateway's firewall provides essential protection for your business by blocking unwanted users and data traffic from entering your local area network (LAN). Additional features include:
        Stateful Packet Inspection
        Port Forwarding
        Port Blocking
        Port Triggering
        Keyword Blocking

How does the Comcast firewall compare with a PIX or Sonicwall?
The Comcast IP Gateway's firewall performs many similar functions to a PIX or Sonicwall.

Can I download Norton software to more than one computer?
Yes, you can download the Norton security software for 3 computers. Additional license can be purchased in sets of 3, for only $6.95 per month. Learn More >

How does off-site Web Access work?
Web Access connects to your Outlook files and tools from any PC with Internet access. Any changes you make are automatically updated on your desktop and mobile devices, so you can easily:
        Use the Scheduling Assistant to efficiently book meetings
        Search and access your company’s Global Address List
        Schedule out-of-office messages
        View content in managed e-mail folders

Business Private WiFi Service

What is Business Private WiFi service?
Comcast Business Private WiFi is a secure wireless connection that will protect employees remotely accessing company servers, applications and provides users with WiFi Protected Access® (WPA/WPA2—PSK) and WEP

Is there a setup fee or monthly service charge for Business Private WiFi?
Installation charges may apply.

Who can access your Business Private WiFi?
Business Private WiFi is intended to be used by Employees of your business. If you are interested in Public WiFi for your patrons, please ask about Business Public WiFi via an Xfinity WiFi hotspot.

What hardware is required to have Business Private WiFi in my business?
Comcast provides the required WiFi access point hardware at no additional cost.

Are there any term commitments for Business Private WiFi?
Business Private WiFi does not require a term commitment. The service would be available as long as you are a Comcast Business Internet customer.

Will Private WiFi impact my Business Internet service? 
Yes, Business Private WiFi is integrated with your Business Internet package and uses the Business Internet bandwidth wirelessly.

Is Business Private WiFi Secure?
Yes, Username and password information is required for access to your wireless network. Your network administrator will be able to assign the user name and password.

Whom do I call for Business Private WiFi support?

I already have WiFi in my business. Why should I subscribe to the Business Private WiFi service?
Comcast Business provides WiFi services as a value added service for our Business Internet subscribers, at no additional charge.
We supply and support the equipment. If your WiFi service goes down, we can’t repair it unless it is our WiFi solution.
You and your employees will also get access to 3,000,000 Xfinity WiFi hotspots. So when you’re out of the office, you can stay connected.
When you're connected to free WiFi, you are not running up data charges on your mobile phone.

I’m an existing Comcast Business customer. Can I have Business Private WiFi installed at my business? 
Yes. If you have Business Internet Starter or above, and would like to host an XFINITY WiFi hotspot, call Comcast Business Care at 1-800-391-3000 to confirm eligibility and to schedule installation of your comprehensive Business WiFi solution.

Do I have to sign a new contract to get Business WiFi?
No. you don’t have to sign a new contract.

I only want the Business Private WiFi service, do I also have to take the Public service, even if I don’t want it?
No. Customers can request to opt-out and disable their Business Public WiFi service by contacting Comcast Business Care at 1-800-391-3000.

 

Business Public WiFi Service

What is Business Public WiFi service?
It’s an XFINITY WiFi hotspot - a value-added service available to Comcast Business Internet (Starter and above) customers. An XFINITY WiFi hotspot provides your patrons Internet access using their WiFi-enabled devices.

Who can access your Business Public WiFi located in my business? 
XFINITY WiFi is intended to be used by the patrons and visitors of your business.
        XFINITY Internet subscribers
        Comcast Business Internet subscribers
        Non-Comcast customers are eligible for two 60 minute sessions in a 30 day period

Can I access the Business Public WiFi in my business?
Yes, as a Business Internet subscriber, you have access to the XFINITY WiFi network. This includes the hotspot hosted at your business, as well as the thousands of other hotspots across the network.

What hardware is required to have Business Public WiFi in my business?
Comcast provides the required WiFi access point hardware at no additional cost. The XFINITY WiFi hotspot is completely separate from the Business Internet service providing bandwidth to your private business network. This allows the XFINITY WiFi hotspot to operate separately and securely from your sensitive business information.

Does Business Public WiFi access point provide a private wireless network option for my business? 
No. The XFINITY WiFi hotspot is targeted to patrons of your business and it does not allow for configuration of a private business network.

What is the range of the Business Public WiFi access point?
While the range of the WiFi signal will vary based upon many factors including building structure and the type of user device connecting, in general, users can expect a 150 foot radius of coverage from the access point.

What kind of speeds can users expect over Business Public WiFi in my business?
The XFINITY WiFi hotspot is powered by a Comcast high speed broadband connection. Speeds will vary based on several factors including but not limited to the number of users utilizing the service and proximity to the WiFi access point, but users can expect a level of service from Comcast that they’ve grown to know and trust. Are there any term commitments for Business Public WiFi?  
No. XFINITY WiFi does not require a term commitment and can be cancelled at any time with no impact to your Comcast Business service.

Will Business Public WiFi impact my Business Internet service? 
No, XFINITY WiFi is completely separate and will have no impact on your Business Internet Service.

Is Business Public WiFi Secure?
Username and password information captured via the sign-in page is protected with 128-bit encryption - the same standard used by thousands of online banking and financial services sites around the world to protect your critical transactions.

Whom do I call for Business Public WiFi support?

What is a business phone line?    
Your digital business phone line from Comcast represents a single phone line and phone number that can be expanded based on your business’s needs. We offer basic business lines and voice mobility lines.

Can I keep my existing phone number?    
Yes, you can transfer any telephone number (including toll-free lines) to a Comcast Business Phone line.

Can I keep my current long distance carrier(s) and use Comcast Business Phone for local calling only?
Comcast offers a combined unlimited local/nationwide long distance call package to maximize your savings. Selection of other carriers for any type of long distance service is not possible.

How many extensions can my business phone line have? 
Each Comcast Business Phone line includes one extension.

Can I forward calls from my Comcast business line number to any cell or landline number? 
Yes! You can forward business line calls to any U.S. telephone number including landline and mobile phones.

Can I add toll-free numbers to my business phone plan?
Yes, Comcast supports toll-free numbers. They can be added to any phone plan.

What services does Comcast have for customers with special needs? 
Comcast is committed to providing accessible services to our customers with special needs. We’re a provider of choice in all Telecommunications Relay Service centers, as required by the Federal Communications Commission. We offer the following:

  • 711 - Abbreviated dialing for users of the relay system in compliance with all applicable federal regulations
  • TTY/TTD - Support for teletypewriters (“TTY”) and telecommunications devices (“TDD”) for customers with a hearing or speaking disability
  • Customer Assistance - A Special Needs Customer Service team that answers TTYs and TDDs and provides additional assistance, such as reading requested documents to visually impaired customers
  • Free Directory Assistance - Free domestic Directory Assistance calls and waived operator surcharges for customers with disability certification (upon request)
  • Braille/Large Print – Braille and large print bills (upon request)

Do I need any special equipment for my Comcast Business Phone digital service?

How many outlets (boxes) can I order for my business?

Are there discounts for ordering multiple outlets (boxes)?  
Yes, there are discounts on outlets above the first 8 you order for restaurants and bars.    

Are there additional charges for HD programming?
Yes, there is an additional fee associated with HD outlets.

Can I bundle my TV package with other services from Comcast?
