Gold Coast Schools Keeps Classrooms Running with Comcast Business Services
Secure network solutions provide Florida organization with the bandwidth and control to deliver positive classes and training experiences
TAMARAC, FLA. – Oct. 20, 2021 – Comcast Business today announced that Gold Coast Schools – a leading provider of classroom and online courses for subject areas including real estate, insurance, construction, mortgage and appraisals – has selected Comcast Business to provide security network solutions combining SD-WAN on the ActiveCore Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platform and advanced security features, along with Ethernet Dedicated Internet (EDI) and managed network services for Gold Coast’s various sites. The solutions will help Gold Coast keep its network online with redundant connections while helping keep connected devices secure across all locations.
Since 1970, Gold Coast has helped more than one million students obtain and renew their professional licenses through classroom and online learning. With 11 sites across Florida and plans to expand, the company recognized a need for upgraded network solutions that could not only provide redundant, reliable connectivity, but help protect the company from cybersecurity breaches.
“Bandwidth, redundancy and reliable connectivity are no longer nice-to-haves, they are essentials for us,” said Gary Judycki, IT director for Gold Coast Schools. “Our average career counselor could be on a phone call, instant messaging with multiple people, sending texts from a computer, answering emails and leveraging cloud-based applications simultaneously – tasks that together require a sufficient amount of bandwidth supported by a strong network. The support we have received from Comcast Business has given us confidence in our network’s ability to perform.”
Since installation, Comcast’s EDI connections have provided the redundancy needed to help keep Gold Coast’s networks up and running, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, which created bigger network demands as virtual engagements accelerated. In addition, Comcast Business’ SD-WAN with Unified Secure Access, a new UTM solution powered by Palo Alto Networks, provides cloud-based monitoring and protection for Gold Coast Schools’ network and its sites, apps and remote users.
“Security is a major focus for our team,” Judycki added. “To keep our sites safe and our student experiences running, we need to make sure our data is secure and that we’re prepared. Comcast Business’s security solution monitors and blocks online threats, which gives us more confidence in our technology infrastructure.”
With these solutions in place, Gold Coast now has redundant, reliable and more secure site-to-site connectivity. In addition to supporting the organization’s ongoing activities, it’s also capable of expanding as the organization grows.
“Now more than ever, a safe and reliable network connection is paramount to the success of educational institutions,” said Rich Rollins, Vice President of Business Services for Comcast’s Florida Region. “We are pleased to support organizations like Gold Coast Schools with customizable technology solutions that help IT teams optimize and protect their networks, and ultimately bolster learning experiences.”
