It was another busy week for the OneLove Company. The students only have one more week to sell their fleece blankets before they must liquidate the company and start preparations to compete in the JA Company Program Regional Competition, which will take place in April.
We’re only able to send five delegates to the competition, so this week the students elected officers who will take the OneLove Company to the next phase. These officers – including a CEO, a vice president of sales, a vice president of customer service, a vice president of product, and a vice president of finance – will be tasked with creating an annual report for OneLove Company stockholders, building a tradeshow booth and preparing a presentation to be delivered to a panel of judges. They’ll also need to participate in 1:1 interviews with judges about how they performed in their functional roles.
We asked each of the students to nominate three people for each possible seat via secret ballot. When we did the tally, it was not a contest – the students easily agreed on who the leaders are:
- CEO: Grant Plotkin
- Vice President, Sales: Damani Okuri
- Vice President, Customer Service: Azeez Scott
- Vice President, Product: Barry Ransom
- Vice President, Finance: Sameese Smith
Next week, the elected officials will start the work of closing out the books and creating the annual report. They’ll also have to make a decision as to whether it makes sense to keep the OneLove Company going after the competition is over and how to do that, should they decide to move forward. On that note, I am thrilled to share that the OneLove Company is poised to break $10,000 in revenue!! In next week’s blog, I’ll be sure to share the final tally.
