More often than not in today’s business landscape, the word ”security” is used in reference to technology. Is your data secured from a natural disaster or disruptive event? Is your network secured from a potential breach? These are the questions that businesses typically ask themselves when it comes to security. However, with so much emphasis put on the security of virtual networks and infrastructure, have businesses forgotten about securing their physical office spaces? We surveyed 117 business panelists to learn how they’re taking measures to provide on-premise security for their businesses.
When asked to describe the type of security in their place of business, the top three answers from panelists – representing 63% of the respondents – were locks, cameras, and basic alarms.
63% of those surveyed said they are securing their workspace with some kind of security/automation control system. Some security systems offer the addition of professionally monitored security, which automatically alerts 911 in case of emergency. 34% of panelist indicated that including this feature in a security system would make the product more attractive to their business, while 2% said it would make less of a difference if this feature were included.
In today’s world, it’s important to take measures to secure every point of entry to your business. Though the focus has shifted to network and data security, on-premise security continues to be just as important.
